Safety Is Number One
Pursuant to sections 169, 169A, and 169B of the Electricity Act 1992, the Electricity (Safety) Regulations 2012 and its amendments requires people to carry out electrical work in a safe manner. The requirements of these regulations also have relevance to the obligations of the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015.
Registration or licensing as an electrical worker does not mean that an individual is competent to work in all fields of electrical work. Competency is determined by the employer.
Competence will only be tested when something goes wrong. For example, something doesn’t work, there is damage to plant or machinery, someone is injured - or tragically someone dies. At this point a clear trail of documentation is required in order to verify that all the correct steps have been taken.

Customers of electrical contractors have a duty to ensure the safety of their own employees.
That responsibility also extends to the employees of the contractor employed to carry out various short or long-term contracts.
At Athenry Electrical Ltd we are participating in a Health and Safety Management system for Health and Safety compliance under the Act and the associated Regulations. We have developed the processes, procedures, practices and documentation to demonstrate our commitment to continuous improvement in Health and Safety and to verify our compliance.
You can be rest assured that any possible liability will be mitigated by employing one or more of our competent staff.

Hi Dave,
Reflecting on the recent substation switchboard replacement project, to replace a 50+ year old switchboard could have gone horribly wrong with high risk and major consequences. All of the Athenry personnel involved in this project were outstanding in their performance,
Paul from the very onset with his technical and organizational skills, had the job well sorted and executed, with some good risk mitigation processes in place.
The two teams (plus the standby team) were very dedicated and motivated, working seamlessly through day and night, (and at a time when we would all rather be someplace else).
In all, an exceptionally well run project, with the best outcome, there was not one issue with electrical supply in either of the production startups, and I have not yet had anyone from operations ask about the project (no news is good news).
Please thank all those involved for their hard work and dedication.
